Hi again Sandra ... was that Border Terrier puppy in the 'suburbs' too far out, too expensive or already rehomed or not the kind of breed that you wanted? Or are you not in Plymouth, Devon, UK?
If you're not from the UK - please ignore the rest of this answer.
What about this site:
http://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pets4homes/home.nsf/Puppies-Dogs-Sale!openform&Location=Plymouth
I notice that it has Chihuahuas & Yorkies.
This site also looks quite helpful:
http://plymouth.local.thesun.co.uk/sale/pet/dog
It lists puppies for sale & where (giving the distance in miles from Plymouth)
Or if you could persuade a breeder to meet you at a train station ...
Have a look on

Plus try here:

Finally there's those rescue organisations - they may have a puppy that is just right for you ... plus you get that wonderful feel good factor of having adopted a little one much in need of a good home:

Don,t know where Plymouth is but I have Tiny Pomeranians and Maltese puppies for sale also I have 4 Tiny Chiapoms they are all registered and have been given their shots and wormed since 2 weeks of age, along with mom as well. They are eating well and they are well socialized and very loving.I feed Eukanuba Puppy food. They are raised on country music witch I play contiuously night and day or the T.V. so they are not jumpy and yeppy. The Poms are from 3-5 #'s grown.I have white with aslight bit of apricot on him and I have a rare pearl/Blue .Absolutely gorgeous!! These two are a sacrifice but I have too too many.I do no in-breeding or line breeding. If you know where Tunica Mississippi and the Grand casino's I live near there.Let me know if you are interested. These babies are the longest living pups in the world, they can live to be 25 yrs old....Thank you Carolyn

There are a lot of "Plymouth" areas - just go to petfinder.com or akc.org and search in your area.

If you are going to get a puppy or a dog, please go and rescue one from a shelter. They need loving homes too.
