I'm 26 and I've noticed that some females of the same age are referred to as 'girls' and others 'women'. When does a girl become a woman and which is better?

Society (legally) considers us women when we turn 18.

Sometimes, being called girls is simply endearing, especially from other women the same age. Otherwise, it could be suggesting the maturity level.

Consider the context, and the source.

A girl becomes a woman when shop assistants call her Madam. I became a woman when I stopped having girl's nights out. Oh and I hate being called Madam!

A "woman" to me is a title. And I think it comes once a female has accomplished something. To me.. when you say "Im a woman!" it's very impowering! It's like I said, like you have accomplished something big.

For me, personally, my accomplishment was having a baby. He not only made me a mommy... but a woman after the whole birthing process! YIKES!!!! Haha...

A girl becomes a woman......
1) She has her period.
2) She has her first kiss.
3) She has her learner's permit.
I can't decide which one is better so I say they both have equal pros and cons.
