many factors are involved in how much a tattoo costs. what is small to you? i have a small tattoo (3 inches by 4 1/2 inches) and it cost $200. most tattoo artists will charge by the hour and not by the piece. be sure to check out many different shops and artists and don't just go to the first place you find. also check out portfolios of the artists and get someone to do an original piece. don't pick any flash off of the walls or out of books. why? because hundreds of tattoo shops have those same tattoos which means thousands of other people have those same tattoos and who wants to have the same thing? good luck!

Yes , size matters alot. The bigger it is the more it costs. Then it also depends on who does it , how much detail and if you want it colored. The best thing to do is to shop around find the right shop for you ! Make sure they will do the tattoo the way YOU want it done.
If you have a tattoo picked out then ask different tattoo artist how much they charge for doing it. Then you'll know who you want to do the tattoo for you.

Size does matter but can also depends on where you want the tattoo on your body but you wont really know the price of your tattoo until you go into a tattoo shop and show them it and where you want it but your looking at anything from £60+

For those wondering about cost, it is NOT in your best interest to seek out advice from people across the world. You're going to get several different answers.
Research your local tattoo shops. Look for reviews about them. View their portfolios. Meet with the artist and discuss what you'd like. Size matters, as does color and detail. Some artists charge for their time as well. Bottom line, do your homework and then ask the artist you choose about what he or she is going to charge for what you want.

Size, color and detail matter, BUT also the city and state you live in. In bigger cities tattoos are more expensive then in smaller cities. I have a black "A" about 2 inches and it cost me $45. Next, I got a flower with a lot of detail and color which came out to $100. Great price and art work!

It may be 100$ an hour but I know this guy that is really good but he charges 250$ for a session which is 6-7 hours. It really varies though. Cute dog. Sad though. Im sorry. =C
