My advice when you first buy tampons buy the multi-pack with lights, heavy, and regular sizes. The multi-pack is perfect because you can use the ones that are just for the type of flow your having at that time. Which is a lot safer for your body. Example; if you buy the regular size and your having a light day it absorbs extra of your bodys moisture which is bad..
They usually do cost a little more but they do last..
But timewise never more than 6-8 hours you don't want to get Toxic Shock which can be fatal..

No longer than 8 hours with the right absorbancy and if it is too high of an absorbancy then you are more likely to get TSS. And how is this a skin and body answer, maybe next time put questions like this in the Health section. I hope that this helps!

around 4 hrs depending on how heavy ur periods are,if they are very heavy they will need to be changed more often and a more absorbent tampon used

4-6 hours hun. You leave it in longer than that and you might get TSS. Trust me, it's not good.
