No one could NOT change his mind unless he has no mind.
Occupying other people by force is losing policy in the past and now and has no future.

Start a massive training process for Iraqis. Take as much money as possible (Which wont be alot w/ the democratic Congress now) and train a massive force of Iraqi soldeirs and/or police. Weve been training some but I mean use every available soldeir we have to train them for 1-2 years. When I say massive, I mean massive; maybe 40,000-50,000 soldeirs (Not like Intel and such, pure combat forces); we have the man power to do this. After those 1-2 years; pull out. Say we did our job and met our goals. We went in, liberated them, took down Saddam, and build an Iraqi force for the new government. Then let them fight their own battle, if they loose its their fault, not ours (America), if they win then good for them. We had to fight for our independence, they will too (we had help too)

The best way for the US to leave Iraq is to complete the mission they went there to do. It started with removing Sada mm and will end with a govt of Iraqis in control of their own country.

The only way to end this debacle is to partition off Iraq according to each faith. Sunni, Shite, Kurd, all factions should have territory of their own. Let each govern itself and arrange for it's own internal security. If they fail and fall into anarchy, then they do it on the world stage with no excuses to fall back on. Use the US troops only as security between the partitions.

Who cares about being a world power? Except for the really rich who are making a killing (no pun intended) on this mess. Maybe we could be a world power in HUMANITARIANISM, WOW, what a concept!

No one should change their mind? Are you nuts? That's ability to think and evolve and change is what makes us Human. Take that away and we are no better than a chimpanzee.
