Hi

Press ctrl+alt+delete keys together then pick the task manager button.

This will give you a list of all program's running and list al none responding ones.

Get back with which ones are not responding.

A program not responding is just a crash. It's generally caused by a bug in the program, but Windows has been known to do it when it runs out of resources, too.

Is it generally the same program? If so, check for reports of similar things happening, and for updates if possible. Might be worth reinstalling it if there's no data you're likely to want.

If it isn't, then is there anything else common to all situations? Do you have a lot of windows open, or are you running a few high-intensity tasks? If so, you're probably just asking more of your PC than it can manage, so you need to either calm down or buy it some presents.

If it's always when something is reading the same file, it may be corrupt. Replace it with a known good one, or try to repair it (how you do this depends on what it is). Or it could be an error on the drive.
