Ummm... illegal immigrants can't vote. And I am hispanic and I wouldn't mind at all if they didn't vote "white" as you put it. As long as they don't vote republican - its okay with me!

It is difficult for some not to get heated up on this topic, and I wonder sometimes why. Is the person angry because they have been outplaced on a job or are they just racist but have no real solution.
It is complicated and there is no one single solution.
Putting up a fence is stupid, it shows that we have no control over our nation or want to isolate our self from Mexico. I have heard a Hispanic state that they are angry we (European Anglos also known as gringos) are here. This was their country and the only thing that happened is we changed the border not them, because they were here hundreds of years before our arrival.
It has some truth to it.
Employers in this country had no problem hiring them at cheap labor rates, but when they decided to stay that is where the problem cropped up. Many mention that they take much from this country but few state facts of taxes they pay but cannot claim if they are illegal. None of us have heard from our wonderful government where that money has gone to that they collected form the illegals?
I have noticed plenty of whites and blacks in the welfare line that look quite healthy, and there are plenty of crops to pick in the Salinas valley of California, but I have never seen a white or black person down there picking, must be over qualified?
The bottom line is that this government did not enforce immigration laws because they were getting lots of work done without the employer having to pay into social security for the worker, or even report they had people working for them, just pay under the counter and no one knows. There have been wrongs on both sides. Hey Vicente Fox has no problem with Hispanics sneaking over the border, but yet Mexico does little to help it's own poor people, and has plenty of corrupt government and police officials who see nothing.
We need to enforce the laws we have on the books, amend a few to make sure that if a woman who has a child here and she is illegal so is the new born, no automatic citizenship they both have to go.
Does anyone really think that America is going to be able to chase approximately eleven million aliens back over the border?
We will need to see the percentage of those that are criminals and send them back. The percentage that have been here over five years and are actually contributing to this country set up amnesty, Those less than five years, no employment and living off of welfare, you have to go back.
One suggestion was that anyone who broke our laws go back reapply but that is not feasible.
So do others have solutions or just condemnation?

The responsibility does not just lay at the feet of Dems/liberals. Our former Govenor of Texas aka The President a very weak Republican did nothing but pander to the illegals and Mexican President Fox. Rick Perry is not any better.
The recently passed bill to build a wall along the border is nothing more than lip service because there was no funding approved to build the dang thing.
Face it ladies and gentleman.....this is an invasion and our government is turning its back on it daily!! We have continued to try and be the accomidating nice country and make things easier for Mexican immigrants by having bi-lingual ballots, classrooms, etc. and by doing so we have bred a culture that is arrogant in its defiance of our laws.
I am all for immigration. It is one of the pillars that makes this country great. I am just asking for LEGAL immigration. If we have to increase the "quota" then to help this....lets get it on. I am also for the immigrants to succeed and without them assimilating into OUR culture and speak English they are doomed to remaining a "lower" class.

What are you talking about. Many democrats (and I'm one) have wanted the administration to close our borders for six years, and they've done NOTHING. Now the Dems can get the job done.
And as for amnesty, forget it. Send the criminals back to their own country, and put them at the back of the line for visas.
There are plenty of honest hardworking people all around the world waiting for a chance to come to this country legally. Let's look after them and have them come here in an orderly way, and let's send all the illegal immigrants home!

Hey buddy - I'm not a Democrat or a liberal and perhaps you need reminding that the Republican controlled Congress and White House dropped the ball in illegal immigration.
Maybe the Democrats will do something to correct the situation, but it'll be a touchy-feely problem (just as the Republicans found it to be).
Party politics aside, all immigrants should be made to feel welcome in the United States...and if they decide to become U.S. citizens, great!
But I don't want my tax dollars supporting ILLEGAL's and I suspect you feel the same way.

I think that generalizing that the democrats welcome illegals is wrong. I am a democrat and I do not condone anybody breaking the law. I even have a plan and that is to arrest anybody that would hire them and put them in jail. Hold the company's that have illegal workers responsible and fine them enough so that it is not profitable to hire illegal aliens at a substandard wage. No work= no money=no reason to be here. This would take care of the problem.

And by the way, if you've been reading the posts, most dems are for fixing the problem, not letting people sneak in. If by fixing it means letting SOME become legalized, then so be it. You are being narrow minded.
Republicans have controlled congress for a while now, and what did they do about people sneaking in the southern border? Nothing. They are the ones who let this get out of hand. Know your facts first.
