You can do this yourself without paying someone else. You can put in what's called an "offer in compromise" to the IRS. They'll ask for a lot of information but it does work. I had to do this to settle my husband's debt when we got married cause I wasn't about to mess with the IRS
Good Luck

i've got self assurance the IRS letter basically says, "You had this different earnings, and thanks to that, you owe $XXX.XX." in this occasion, you do not could desire to amend your returns, with the aid of fact the IRS has figured it out for you. All you'll be able to desire to do to verify that's to place in writing a verify for the asked fee, or in case you may not do this, ask the IRS to establish a fee plan for you. Now, in case you have years in which you had debt settlements that the IRS hasn't caught yet, then confident, you probable prefer to amend those returns to get those further taxes paid till now extra pastime piles up. There no cut-off date for submitting an substitute in case you owe extra, yet 3 years in case you will get a refund.
