and be allowed to do so legally, even though it's against the Word of God, why aren't Christians allowed to discipline their children according to God's Word without people crying child abuse and trying to have their children taken away from them?
(I'm not judging, I'm merely asking a question), and please note there is a difference between disciplining God's way, and beating a child.

presagio1:
My point is that homosexuality, like other sexual sins outside marriage are condemned by God; yet society wants us to embrace it; however, disciplining your children is commanded by God, yet we aren't (according to society) supposed to do it HIS way.

My children are grown and on their own...I'm asking this question because of an article I read about the gay parade (demonstration) in Jerusalem, plus my devotions were in the book of Proverbs, so it just got me thinking...

Elphaba:
I care when preference is given to behaviour that is outlined as wrong according to God; and when someone is trying to do what's right by raising their kids in the Lord, they're called abusers! I'd say the tail is wagging the dog! No whining, just stating the obvious.

isnt there a difference between having a peaceful march because you are proud of who you are ...
and punishing your children ?
how are you able to connect the two here ?
yes it may be against the word of God ( in the bible ) ... but not everyone believes that
most people however do believe that punishing children according to the biblical teachings is wrong

I discipline Gods way and no one has ever EVER "cried child abuse". I think when people see Gods word carried out AND see the results, calling CPS or whatever is just not an issue. Sorry if you're not finding this to be true. Read "shepherding a childs heart" for more of where I get my direction from. You know part of this is that the discipline is done in love, not anger, and not because we're annoyed as parents but because our children are in sin by their disobedience and we are merely bringing them back into grace by our guidance. Another thing is that most of the time, when this is carried out in the home on a consistent basis, it doesn't come up in front of other eyes who may disapprove. Even at the house, I won't spank one boy in front of the others, it's a very private situation and very restorative occurrence.

in order to get a parade, theres a long process involved, its not just a thing planned the day before. I never really heard of disciplining "gods way" but by the sounds of it doesnt sound pleasant.
Another thing, parades themselves, they don't inflict harm onto everyone, if they do, its just anger and nothing lasting. whatever people cry abuse about gods diciplining must have some sort of lasting effect on children.

A peaceful march is not against the law.
The kind of discipline that gets children taken away from their parents constitutes abuse and is against the law. That's the difference.
I'm with everyone else. The two examples do not relate to each other in any way.

Gods Word says Spare the Rod Spoil the child , God is talking about the Rod of Correction , Whoever heard of a Shepard beaten his sheep , Most Christians use this scripture to justify a spanking for their child ,but that's not what its talking about , As far as gay parades are concerned them people are nuts and to want to do it in Jerusalem is even crazier ,What better way for the devil to take a man and flaunt his sickness in front of God and say Look what Ive done to your creation , God wont thrive with man forever ,Amen

Homosexuality is morally neutral, just as heterosexuality is, so naturally there's no reason for them not to have parades if they so wish. I'm all for disciplining children though - People thinking they can't discipline children is one of the reasons we have a moral decline in behaviour of young people.

Because what they do is not against the laws of the United States. We are not a theocracy like some Muslims states. What is the Christian way? Do you plan to hit your kid with a rod? The reason is that we have learned that that kind of punishment causes serious psychological damage down the road for those kids.

Because you are talking about the laws of man vs the Laws of God. Let God deal with others and you just worry about how your measure up to the mark.
Remember we are to follow the laws of man as long as they do not conflict with the Laws of God. Check out your local laws on child abuse to see how far, as a parent, you are allowed to go. In Arizona you may strike a child with an open hand as long as you do not hit them hard enough to leave a lasting mark. And while many people like to quote "He who spareth the rod hateth his son" they tend to overlook "Fathers provoke not your children unto wrath".

Marching in parades is against the Word of God? Geez, that god of yours really is a party-pooper.
But seriously. Is anyone really forbidding parents to spank their children? Teachers may not be allowed, but are parents being held back from giving Junior a well-deserved little paddling?

Because this country is Secular (look up Treaty of Tripoli - it is not founded on Christian Principles). And you are allowed to discipline your child, so long as it follows the laws of the land (which, BTW, the Bible tells you to do).
