I have a toddler who will be 3 next month and I am trying to get her to give up her binky on her own. I have gotten her to where she only has it when she goes to sleep and in the car. She doesn't take it into stores or houses, except home of course. Anyway, I personally feel it will be better for her and the rest of us if she gives up her binky on her own, kind of like potty training. So I am trying to find stories about kids giving up the binky for good on their own. Any ideas of where I can find the binky fairy story would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Giving Up the Binky: If your kids are firmly attached to their Binky's consider inventing a Binky Fairy (Just like the tooth fairy) Tell them that the binky fairy will leave them things in place of the binky's that they place under their pillow. That night with their help place the binkys under the childs pillow and after they go to sleep exchange them for a really nice toy of some kind. Maybe one they have been wanting. The thrill will take their minds off the missing binky, even though they know that the binkys are forever gone!

Im not sure of where to find a story about it. I seen this done on Supernanny. She had the little girl take all the binkies in the house and put them in a mesh bag that has handles on it, and then they took the bag and tied it in the tree outside, Over night the binky fairy came and got the bag and in return left a present for the little girl. Im not sure what it was they just called it a big girl present. But I guess a person could use whatever they saw as a fitting gift for the occasion. When the little girl asked where the binkies went she was told that the fairy would take them and give them to smaller babies who really needed them. Good luck, I hope this helps.

I had a friend that told her soon about the binky fairy and she said that he could send his binky in the mail and that the fairy would send him a dollar in exchange. So everyday he put one of his binkys in the mailbox and his mom would sneak and throw it away and replace it with a dollar. He ended up sellin all his binkys to the fairy and got money to buy a new toy. This really worked.

I don't know where to find that, but I think you should just make up your own story.

Just throw her binky away when she's not looking and when she asks for it later tell her "The binky fairy took it away to another little girl".

Maybe have her "send" it herself to a baby. Tell her she's too big for binkies and have her put it in the mailbox and "send" it to another little girl who needs a binky. Tell her to go out later and see if the binky fairy took it (take it out of the mailbox before she goes out there).

OMG! 3 and using a pacifier? That is ridiculous!!!

Take it away and don't worry about a stupid binky story. 3 is way too old for a pacifier!
