Basenji. They are about 20lbs. and short haired. They dont shed very much and are practically odor free(maybe 1 bath every few months). They are quiet dogs(barkless but not mute). They are energetic dogs but love to cuddle too and very smart and can be trained very easily. They are also very good with kids(no matter the age). Check with a breeder or online about these dogs.

Your question is a little confusing. Why do you NEED this dog?
Or is it that you want a small short haired dog as a companion?
There are lots of breeds that fit this description. Is this dog for you or for someone else? Your best bet will be to either go on line and look up dog breeds and their traits, or if thats not possible go to your local library and do your research there. Some small dogs like the Jack Russell Terrier are very active and need lots of attention or they get bored and begin to chew furniture and other stuff you may not be happy with in the long run. Please do your research before you spend the money on a dog that may not suit your lifestyle. You will both be happier for it. LL

Maybe a poodle or a poodle mix, no shedding or allergic reactions. Short hair is like tiny little needles that embed themselves in everything!
