Tell him your biological clock is ticking! You want a baby, and now! Just kidding.
Just tell him the truth...it will set you free. Not always easy to do, but always the right thing to do. Especially if you want to date his friend. Be honest and maybe he will help you get the other guy!

Be honest with him. If you scare him away it may also scare away the guy you like. Guys talk and how you deal with this may also be something that comes back to bite you. Just tell him in a polite way that you are not wanting a relationship with him, he may get hurt but he will get over it. I wouldn't wait or he may think that the feeling are mutual, chances are he knows that you are aware of his feelings for you and waiting for you to respond to him.

If he's a "nice" guy, you can let him know you aren't "interested" without being "cruel" to him.
Talk to him. Tell him that although you think hes a nice guy, you aren't interested in him. If he's really that "nice", he will understand.

If you are brave, tell him to bug off.
If you're not brave, simply ignore him. When he tries to talk to you, go the other way or walk faster. If you're not walking, tell him yo have to go and run!
Or, if you're really brave, tell his friend you like him and his friend might tell this guy.
