What is taken out of the way is the Roman Empire ruled by the Caesars and then it became the Papal Rome ruled by the Popes. This study is represents what Paul was talking about in that time but he could not name the Roman Empire because they were under the rule of the Roman Empire and if they got a hold of his letter to the Thessalonian church they would be wiped out. The Holy Spirit, the third member of the Godhead. Who can restrain Satan other than God? The Holy Spirit will be removed from the earth and allow Satan and his minions full reign, for a short time. The Holy Spirit dwells in the hearts of the Church, believers in Christ. So, in order to remove the Spirit, believers must also go, hence, the rapture.
