Were having pinecones on the tables at our wedding next Nov. '07 and we didn't know when to pick them or have any ideas on how to decorate them?

Go out and pick them now, they will last for another year. Be careful going onto federal land, you are not allowed to remove anything without a permit. I know people do pick up pine cones, but without the permit it is illegal. I just mentioned it because it seems something innocent to do, but it can get you into trouble.

Pick them now. Let dry completely. You can spray paint them to match your wedding colors OR just white elmers glue on just the tips and dip them in glitter. You can also buy oil of your preference to scent them (Cinnamon?). You can place them in baskets, just scatter on the tables, use a card holders.

In the fall is best. They will last you very nicely stored in a paper bag in a cool, non humid place.
