okay so i downloaded LimeWire after some of my friends' insistence...

i used to work with Ares till now (and still prefer it).. ares NEVER tries to access internet as frequently as limewire as shown by my norton firewall..

secondly, i NEVER got a Medium Risk warning when ares tried to access the internet as is the case with limewire..

my question is whether LimeWire really IS safe to use...

i have LimeWIre Pro 4.9.37 (with Java 1.5.0_09). i am using Windows XP... established and verified answers sought!

lemme rephrase it: what are the risks of using LimeWire PRO (not considering threats that may arise from files we download)

I've had serious problems with both.
Limewire
and
Ares.

I used ares first and sure it was great you got songs and videos but one day I got a virus, not a trojan or anything simple to get rid of. It was a very bad virus and by the time the computer guy came over it was too late. It broke down my computer.

Then after I bought another computer I switched to Limewire and it was even better I thought I didn't get a single virus for about 6 months. But then I got another very serious virus. This time I got it to the computer guy in time so it was saved. Now I need a reliable sharing thing that catches no viruses.

Is there such a thing?

Limewire gives computer viruses alot. I downloaded it as well and it screwed up my computer, you have no idea how long it took me too fix it. After i took off limewire i haven't had any viruses since.

No, it's not safe. There are tons of viruses and if caught using... well... not good for you. It's convenient, but it's still illegal.
