Yes. Rank is transparent between military branches.

Also, since many military operations, command HQ, and planning groups are comprised of members of all the services the Chain of Command recognizes the rank and not the service. The Pentagon is a prime example. And on board many US Navy ships you have both naval and Marine Corp personnel son again respect o the rank applies.

Yes a private has to follow the orders of a Naval Lieutenant.

And a Navy Vice Admiral (3 stars) has to follow the orders of a General (4 stars) in the Air Forces.

In the Canadian Forces, due to our tri-service trades and commands, the answer is yes. I am a Leading Seaman in an army unit, and I do order privates around.

And currently, the Vice Chief of Defence Staff is Navy, while the CDS is Army, so really, it doesn't quite matter.

I was informed (by a lover I used to have who was a high ranking officer in the army) the answer to that was yes.
A superior officer is a superior officer no matter what branch.

Yes. A military member in any branch of the service must carry out, to the best of their ability, the legitimate orders of any superior.

I am trying to find the Commanding Officer or NDHQ support unit in Ottawa Canada. I have a complaint against a military person at the NDHQ support unit I am trying to initiate. I have been given the runaround and find it impossible to obtain the name or avenue to contact the most responsible officer who would handle such a complaint. (conduct not in line with military code of conduct). I am not a member of the forces but am the mother of a child of a military member.
