we've been going out for 4 months short of a year and are in our 20s. we're great at communicating, never fight...no problems. it's just that sometimes when we go on drives...there's no real conversation that arises. we listen to music and things of the sort...it's not completely dead, but it's not like a chat session like he does with his friends and i do with mine. btw...we work together too...

You have extended chat sessions or marathons with your friends because you don't spend as much time with them as you do with your significant other. Therefore, when you do get together with your friends, you have much more to tell them than you do with your significant other. If you spend more time apart from your significant other, you will likely have more to talk about when you do get together.

So, I guess I suggest that you have some time away from each other. Have different experiences from him. Then come back and tell eachother about them.

Not sure if that is what you wanted to hear. But it is true.

it is alright. sometimes the best things are the things unsaid....wow sounds like i read that from a book...but anyways you dont always have to talk with the person you love. the silence can be just as good ask talking. Next time it happens just try to make eye contact and smile at him. If he smiles back you know you are in a good situation

Start talking to him about something at work, then change the subject after awhile. Talk about the music your listening to. Maybe he thinks you wouldn't be interested in what he is interested in. Remember to have a conversation somebody has got to talk first.

You can try talking about the songs that you hear on the radio, or on your favorite CDs. Talk about what they mean to you, him, or just what they mean in general.

You can also try talking about things the other person didn't know yet. For example, funny experiences in you childhood, you childhood dreams, etc. After one person tells a story, the other person must share their story (s), too.
