Get a reason to get up. Usually means getting a job, so find something to get involved in. I have this issue-er no job however I solved it by doing other things instead. Firstly I hate "jobs" such as 9-5 do as your told and get with the program, yet I like work. Strange ain't it.
Firstly people are key. My solution was finding someone who I can go casually work for and end up involved in all sorts of problems. I care about his business and want to see it succeed. Not bothered about being paid as I'm enjoying the involvement. Freeing myself from the wage slave part of it answered my core value of freedom. As a result I would be there often 14 hrs a day easily, and be willing to do difficult, dirty and awkward jobs. Something I won't do for a conventional "have to" job.
My answer here being find something, and someone(s) outside of you to care about. Volunteer, get involved with people. If you don't go for charity (like me) find some business you can get involved with. Without a purpose in life you will drift into some kind of malaise and depression.
Drugs and alcohol are not inevitable but can be a danger in this scenario. If you can't answer the question of "what do I want?" then go make something up. I used to be an IT consultant but now I work casually in a commercial garage just hanging out doing various jobs that I can figure out or being taught how to do others. I had enough of computers as a career.
Of course this boiled down to "get a life" but that kind of unhelpful answer won't give you much to chew on. I would say that those giving this advice be more productive if you are going to bother setting hands to keys.
Find some purpose or just go out and see what you can find. Walk, bus, drive, give yourself lots of chances. I'm talking from experience. Network with people, learn to strike up conversations with ANYBODY<--This is the most vital trick of all->Learn to be very interested in other people, get interested in others. Trust me, if you are sincere and real, you will attract people and this is what you need.

I assume that you mean that you are not working and do not get up until 6 PM. If this is the case - the solution is to force yourself to get up at 6 or 7 AM. If you mean that you are unable to sleep at night - and as a consequence - you sleep much of the day - there are a number of considerations - all of which should be relatively easily treated.

Go down the employment exchange. Go temping. If no work available, do some voluntary work. Help in a local church in practical ways. Don't lay in bed wasting your days away, get a life and make the most of it. Time goes too fast when you are busy.

People still work in many jobs at this time of night. so even if you are a bit unusual with your waking times it is still no excuse to not have a job!! Pubs clubs and most 24 hour shops around are most welcome to employ night owls like you.

get a job or a training course, when you have nothing to do you can easily get into a rut and find it very hard to motivate yourself
