If you love him, you will stand on his side and show him that you care. Don`t just stay aside watching.

This is a very thin line you are contemplating walking here. On one hand, you are a team, and teams support each other. On the other hand, getting assistance from a girl on such a manly topic can make him feel even worse.
I would suggest building up his confidence. In his situation, I imagine what is bothering him the most is how he thinks you are perceiving the situation. He can probably handle being picked on, but he is probably losing sleep over how you are handling it. The important thing is to make him feel like you don't feel any less of him. Sure, if you happen to see the guys that pick on him, you can talk some smack to them. However, be careful (girls seldom realize this) not to start a fight that he will later have to finish. I can handle my own, but nothing irriates me more than when my girlfriend pops her mouth off to some guy that I wasn't planning on fighting. Gee, thanks babe.
He will just want to know that he is still your "man", which you can accomplish without ever confronting these people.

He will respect you more if you allow him to fight his own fights. You would do better to try to boost his self esteem a little..perhaps he could become a little less"geekey" as you put it.

Hell yeah don't do it they will pick on him harder and he will feel horrible whe he gets picked on it is better for him for you not to be there. Its a man thing maybe you need to find your self a real man and leave the pansy or tell him to go workout and kick *** and stop being a pansy. tell him to stop saying nerdy things..

Go on and help him but try not to take control over his thoughts, feelings, and actions. This will show him that you care enough.

Bail on him. He is not a suitable mate. He will not be able to protect you or your family someday. Just let him go now so its less painful in the future.

Help him by helping him to help himself. Got it? convince him to let the two of you learn martial arts together. Then you both can kick those bullies *****.
His pride will be hurt if you do it for him.

I'd definitely stick up for him, but try to do it w/o making yourself look like his parent.
Build him up in front of other people too!
