I know it's not hereditary because my family has thick hair even when they get old. And I don't think it's stress because it started falling out even before I started working, and work has caused a lot of stress, but I don't think it's that bad. What can I do to get some volume back into my hair or what can I use to make my hair thick like it used to be?

Have you changed your diet recently? Sometimes if you cut out a lot of fat, your body has trouble maintaining your hair, skin and nails. If you can get to a GNC or other supplement supplier, see fi you can get some conjugated linoleic acid. This is an essential fatty acid that dramatically improves your hair, skin and nails. If this doesn't seem to help, talk to a doctor or a dietician. I hope this helps! :)

In addition to the above, get a test for hormone levels. Women have testosterone too, and if you lean near the high end of the scale, then that could be your problem. If that is the case, ask your doctor if Aldactone could help you.

Your age is not mentioned and that makes the answer difficult. Hair fall is a natural phenomenon if the number of hair lost per day is between 80 and 100. However if there is excess hair fall causes such as anaemia, malnutrition, digestive disorders, thyroid disorders etc should be ruled out. Any major fever or recovery from delivery or a major surgery are also causes of excess hair fall.

Stress, heredity, cancer therapy are other causes of hair fall.
