This would be a real donnybrook, however the US enjoys a considerable size advantage over our British cousins, therefore the smart money would be on the Republic of Ireland, that would take advantage of England's preoccupation and scoff up Ulster!

OK, hypothetically answering....if you mean an all out, no holds bar, winner takes all, no prisoners and all that.
England/UK is capable of inflicting major damage, destruction and death on America.
However.....
The US has an arsenal of 10,300 nuclear warheads. Of these 1632 are sub launched Trident II D-5, Mk 5.
Britain has arsenal of 248 nuclear warheads. All of which are sub launched Trident II D-5, Mk 5 which are highly accurate. However...they are all owned by the US.
So.....in a fight to the absolute finish the US would win.
In a conventional war the out come would be the same. While the British soldier, sailor, airman and royal marine is as well trained and as brave as any
again it is simply a matter of numbers.
The US has a larger Army and more Naval warships...most critically 13 Aircraft Carriers vs 3 for Britain. This does not include the 7 USA LHA class helicopter carriers.
The USAF has a superior number of long range bombers (B2, B52 and the B1) compared to the Royal Air Force.
But it just isn't going to happen.

A war on any level against the UK would be a terrible thing for both countries. The level of destruction and the cost of life that both these countries could inflict upon one another is crazy. But I believe in a short period of time, the US would win thru sheer tenacity and materials. It would be a couple of old dogs battling for supremacy, but its the volume of bullets and bombs that the UK would face that scares me most.

If your talking WWII style warfare (pounding them into submission) the U.S. could beat every country. We would have some difficulties with China, Pakistan and India because of their sheer numbers, but our technology would prevail. European countries have technology but are missing the large armies.
HOWEVER, realistically speaking, today with our media ready to help spread propaganda of our enemies, and perpetuate divisions in our country, we will continue to lose to even the weakest countries in the world, including England.
