Post Office for Passport. I know in the U.S. to get a Passport for a child you need both parents present or you have to fill out a form if it is impossible to get the other parent.

If you have any questions you should call the Australian Embassy in the U.S. You should also inform them of your visit to the U.S.

Get a passport,
Apply for a US visa,
Tell your intention on what to do in the US,
Present complete documents and a credible bank account, and
Answer questions properly during the interview.
