Why are there so many ignorant people driving that don't accelerate to the appropriate speed limit while they are on the on-ramp? Don't they realize that is why they make them as long as they do, so that you have time to get up to speed BEFORE you enter the freeway? This really frustrates me. (Can you tell I have just been out driving with these idiots?) I know this bothers other people, too. Any other driving pet peeves anyone wants to get off their chest?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Not every car can accelerate to the speed limit in the distance of the onramp, nor is it always the safest approach. One of my pet peeves, and possibly one of the more inconsiderate behaviors among poorly-educated drivers, is when people who drive in the slow lane get irritated at people who are merging or exiting. Let me quickly outline for you the basic traits of an ignorant driver. An ignorant driver has little knowlege of the motor vehicle code, and has rarely taken the time to learn even the most basic rules of the road. Ignorant drivers truly believe they have the right of way in every situation even if they don't, and are not afraid to risk their own life, and more importantly, the lives of others, to insist on it. Ignorant drivers erroneously believe that they are doing everything right, and that everyone else is simply in their way. Ignorant drivers spend all of their time driving frustrated, rather than calm. This leads to high pulse rates, high blood pressure, poor decisions, anger toward other motorists, and confrontations that would never occur were it not for the false security provided by the car they are in.

A lot of people just don't understand it. I, however, do and I get agitated when I am behind a slow poke on the 'on ramp' too. I want to honk my horn at them, but I don't because of road rage issues that some people could have, or they are just slow in the first place. When I have accelerated and people don't move over to a faster lane (when they can) so I can get on the highway, I get extremely agitated too, but I try to keep my cool then too.

BECAUSE IDIOT PEOPLE DON"T KNOW HOW TO MERGE!!! It's so bad on the west coast!! Especially in Washington where i live! I'm oringinally from California and it's horrible there too! It's like they were just thrown in a car and never taught how to drive!!! I hate when your on the freeway and someone flashes their blinker for a second then swerves into your lane!!

It would amaze you how ignorant the average person really is....

why do people drive slow in the left lane even if there is a mile long backup of cars because of them, don't they realize or do they never check there mirrors.

In Germany it's a serious crime... we should inact the same law

so to sum it up, people are idiots in a generalized view

Indeed. Other seemingly mysterious driving situations include "The Zipper Effect" while merging, "The Fast Lane," and my personal favorite: coming to a complete stop to make a right-hand turn ON A GREEN LIGHT!!!

The people entering the highway have to yield, I can't stand the people who accelerate on the onramp and then cut me off.

LOL
We have people around where I live that actually slam on their brakes at the end of an onramp

The speed limit is just that... The max you can drive on the road. It is not the minimum you can drive.

People who stop in merge lanes! rather than speeding up and watching as they merge...they simply stop and wait! ERGGGGG!!!
