i mean... if we are "sons of god" then it should be ok for us to have him as role model, follow his steps and mature as a specie and grow up like every son does and why not? even become greater than him...
i mean... isn't that what a father expects from his son?? to acheive more things that the father did in his life? then why do people say that its wrong for humans to try to achieve the things only god can do? i think god should be proud of we humans following his steps, i think he would pe proud if he see we can also do what he do. am i right?
(pls, if you say no, at least say why not)

It is not only correct, it should be mandatory. Your dad is whom gave you life, other than your mom. They both should be role models. You were created because certain conditions were met in your mothers' womb. Everything around us happened for a reason, and scientists have explained most of them away, including how babies are made. This "God" person you speak of doesn't exist. It is a construct of man to control other men. Kinda like the Matrix. Put it this way: "God" wants you to obey him without question. If you disobey him or stray from him, he will send you to a place where you will burn for all eternity, where you will cry, go walking in the dark, get bitten and lashed by unknown beasts, go hungry.............but he loves you?! What kind of crap is that? If you disobey your dad, the most he will do is have you go and get a switch and do some switch discipline.

Because people don't want to believe in God these days, because that would mean that (1) they would be responsible to someone besides themselves and (2) someone higher than them has control of their fate. I just accept these things as fact, thank God for the blessings He gives me, do the best I can to live the way he would have me do, and move on with my life.

Your god doesn't exist. You'd be more accurate to say using the bible as a role model. But, considering that the bible is written by man, why not use your father?

You can use Jesus as your role model...but you will never be greater than Jesus...or the living God (the Father) either.
The Creator (living God) is greater and always will be greater than His creation (you and I.)
Lucifer thought he could be greater and he was evicted from Heaven for eternity. Isaiah 14

a good father should be a godly role model anyway. A father should always pray to be more like god because his son will want to be like him

no GOD says in his WORD that his thoughts are not our thoughts nor is his ways our ways. the created can not become higher than the creator. that is one of the things that caused adam and eve to be expelled from the garden. by the way GOD has no sin, but we were born in sin, we have a sin nature. God is perfect.

Er. I think that it's only "correct" to use one's parents a role models if they are DESERVING of being followed.
It should not be automatic.
As for the expectations of parents, any rational and sane parent will expect that their children will eventually develop their own opinions. And any LOVING parent will WANT their kid to be free to make his or her decisions and choices, and will have taught him or her to do so.

I use my dad as a role model because he is my creator and I was brought up to respect my parents/family/friends/etc.
I don't use god as a role model because he doesn't exist.
Therefore, it is a moot point/question.
