Looking for a simple switch that consists of two metal contacts that can be separated by pushing a spacer spacer between them. Circuit is closed when the spacer is pulled out. Is there a name for this type of switch?

Single pole switch,or if you want to isolate positive and negative feeds a double pole switch.

Typically, no there is no such type of switch.

The reason is because that type of switch could be dangerous to use because of the exposed elements.

If you are using low voltage (like a C or D battery), you could make your own by using contacts of a relay.

Sounds like a jumper. Usually they will have two pins sticking up, and you put a peice that connnects the two pins, or remove the peice and open the circuit
