Does anyone know what is normally covered under travel insurance when you have things from your baggage stolen? I need to know what sort of things are just normal sort of contents as opposed to 'valuables'.

If you have household insurance, all your items should be covered anyway. If you're relying on travel insurance, your policy will state specifically how much coverage you have for your luggage. This is not usually a high figure - it wouldn't cover half of what I take with me - and if you are taking a particularly expensive item such as a camera, it is worth getting additional insurance. However, most policies do not state that they only cover clothes etc, and will cover everything up to the maximum stated in the policy.

ask the insurance company but i know that its pretty hard to get compensation for anything stolen on hols.
somebody i know had their handbag stolen on hols containing €300, a camera, expensive sumglasses and some jewelery.
she didn't get a penny because she couldn't prove how much money was in the bag and she didn't have the receipts for any of the contents or for the bag itself.

the cost is cheap just buy it ( if you have nothing of value then it's like playing the lottory - with better odds )
