it say .22 insert but i hear all the time people using .224 cal bullets and i was wondering if i could use .223 cal bullets. also can anyone tell me what the difference between a .223 bullet and a .224 bullet thanks, matt

Both the .223 and .224 bullets are considered .22s. The basic difference between the two bullets is 1/1000" in diameter. The diameter of the .22 will matter very little, since you will set the bullet into a sabot, which will be loaded into the charged case. I am presuming you will be reloading either .308, .30-06, or .30-30 cartridges with saboted .22s.

it is recomended that the bullet is slightly bigger than the barrel. when i say slitghtly, i mean as little as .002 cal. the .224 will accelarate faster and possibly be more accurate than the .223 cal bullet will.

I think he (^) missed the point, but his answer is still true, you need to use the right size inserts or the sabot will end up being the wrong size and it will all end in tears.
