Burdock is a biennial weed. You will know it mostly in its second year where it can get 6 feet high and gets burs all over it that stick to your clothes. It is a very broadleaved weed that emerges from a rosette at the bottom. It produces those big round burs that we call cockleburs.

It's a big leafed wild plant. When we were little and got stung by nettles, we used to spit on a burdock leaf and rub it on the sting. I can't remember whether it worked or not, but we used to do it all the same!
