Yeah. I recommend the book "Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism: A Bishop Rethinks the Meaning of Scripture". It's really good. I think the polarization started at the Scopes trial. It really divided Christianity into many different groups.

Faith is something you have when no one is watching. Our religion, sadly, does seem to foster leaders who use it to tell us why others are going to hell (to inspire disdain).
We Christians may need to look into the mirror as to how much hatred and fighting we are helping (unintentionally) to foster.
Freedom of Church & State is America's *greatest* invention. We should guard it fiercely, regardless of what religion you follow.
Our founders were trying to create a government that didn't impose religion in its schools and its laws, but he we are debating conservatives trying to do just that. Let's keep that 'Pandora's box' closed.
