Probably just human nature. Even without religion, we'll still find reasons to fight and kill each other over. So religion isn't the sole cause of war.
Religion can be A cause of war, but not the ONLY cause of war. Religion's just one of our many differences people fight over. If not for religion, it could be something like language or hair color or the clothes we wear.
It's human nature to fight and if not human nature, it's certainly a natural order of things as we can't have peace without war or war without peace. It's a cycle. We'll have peace for a few years, then war. Then we'll have war for a few years, then peace again.
Religion is only a single reason people fight each other over. Religion itself no more causes war than a sandwich would. It's an object, an idea, a tool. Religion or a sandwich can neither one order someone to go to war. We make that decision ourselves.

Wars can be caused by a lot of things... A natural resource (oil), fighting a political system (communism), a threat to safety... The list goes on. It's sad that religion, something that is supposed to promote peace, compassion and understanding amongst people is actually the cause of it in quite a few cases. I don't think war is human nature, i think it is our CULTURE's nature.

The human inclination to do things they know they shouldn't, oftentimes using religion as a facade. People may have their own opinions about religion and beliefs, however no matter how much or little religion we have, we will still have wars. We have always and will always find some sorry excuse for going to war, be it religion, politics, race, nationality, favorite football team, anything else that differentiates one group of people from another.

All the Religion have one common principle to teach to the people " Be good and Do good". But who interpret religion do it wrong instead of teaching about peace teach about violence.
So Religion was never cause of any war but the people who interpret the religion are the root cause of all the war.

It's human nature. We're naturally selfish creatures and want what others have. It's when the envy or anger gets the better of us that it causes war.
