To summarize it, the Book of Mormon teaches as historical fact that the Indian tribes in the Americas are descendents of Israelites who came across the Atlantic mainly about 600 BC. BUT... studies of 150 plus Indian tribes' DNA has revealed a total lack of any Semite (Israelite) genetic markers in the Indians in the Americas. In the same token DNA DOES comfirm the Bible history, but not the Book of Mormon, Why not ?

Because the Bible was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Also, had a group of Israelites decided to sail to North America (even though it wouldn't be discovered for almost 2,000 more years), we could expect to find at least two things: 1) Biblical references to a group of Hebrews leaving - we fail to find this. You would, after all, expect this to be pretty important. In 600 BC, people didn't just sail to far away lands going unnoticed. 2) Archaelogical evidence of a Jewish culture in North America - we fail to find this as well. We find no archaelogical evidence of worship of Yahweh, no evidence of the Torah, no evidence of a priesthood with elaborate rituals. We do, however, find evidence of yet another polytheistic culture - not Judaism.

Also, Joseph Smith interpolated verses from the KJV of the Bible into the Book of Mormon - and in doing this, carried some of that version's errors with it - speaking strongly against the infallibility of Joseph Smith as a prophet, and the Book of Mormon.

I have seen various websites that try to explain why this is true.

I find it humorous and you can find them yourself if you goolge for it.

Personally I could care less what the book of Mormon claims.

as for conferming the Bible I would not go that far. While DNA shows we likely have a common anccestor it dates back long before 6,000 years ago.

Both the modern day Hebrews and the modern day American Indians are so mixed-blooded that I don't see how they could find a marker anyway.

Yet another proof that Joseph Smith was a fraud. I'm sure the creative "apologists" at FARM will develop some unscholarly way to try to explain away the evidence. With all of their billions of tax-free dollars, the LDS church will ensure that the Truth stays suppressed.
