Buddhism is not about worship. Bowing to Buddha is really about acknowledging the Sacred in yourself, or bowing inward. Buddha is not god. Tea drinking is an art form about aesthetics, savoring the moment fully, away from the turmoil of the world. Go read DTSuzukis book about Japanese Culture.

Buddhists are as varied as Christians -some use statues and incense and bells. Others do not. Those that do generally use them to remind themselves of the path they have chosen to follow. But ultimately it's the Buddha's message and how you apply it that counts. As for the tea, it can be used as a form of meditation. But it can also just be a drink. Which illustrates the manifold nature of the universe quite nicely I think.

Hi, I am Rational Spirituality,
And am quite amazed at the insignificant details you are picking on with regards to Buddhism!
The most important aspect of Budhism is, that, unlike religions, it does not have a dogma, but the belief grows from within the person through his or her gradual enlightenment. This means that they seek the Truth about God from within their hearts, which is the correct way of going about it.
That is why the Buddhists are more sincere, tolerant, and peaceful, compared wiith other religious followeres who get brainwshed by their dogmas, written by politicians, to the point of murder.
Violence is unacceptable to Buddhists, whether in front of a statue, drinking tea (!!!), or not.

We don't worship anything, Siddhartha Gautama was a mortal man, he is dead and gone, and we simply use him as a role model. We meditate, we manage our mind...
