My daugher is turning 7 this week. We had arranged for her to have a pool party at a hotel and then found out that her two best friends are not going to be able to attend. She is devistated and it won't be the same without them there. What can I do to make her day special?

Take her to build a bear and have her make her own bear and then take her to libby lou or clairs and have her all made up and then take her to the movie of her choice and she will be to busy to be sad.

Take her out to lunch, then maybe go bowling or out to a movie or something. She will understand that YOU being there at her birthday is the most important because it was you who brought her into the world. Although her two best friends cannot make it to her birthday party, she still has people around her who cares about her very much. Good luck, and you seem to be a great mother just trying to make your daughter happy. Keep up the good work.

Have two parties. One pool party with 7 guests - because she is 7!.

The second party will be a sleepover party for her and her two best friends. Let her plan what to do and where to go for supper - there are only 3 of them so it makes it a lot more flexible.

:) Been there done it!

Surprise her a day or two before he birthday by arranging a day that does work to have the friends that can't make it to her party over to do something special.

For my 7 year old niece, my sister and I threw her a little Saloon party! About 4 of her friends from school came over and my sister did their hair, I did their make-up and my mom did their nails. We took pictures of them all made up and sent them to their parents with their thank yous! We also had little cup cakes and juice in tea cups! It was so cute, really cheap and the girls loved it! And if you want, when her best friends can make it, you can do it for them too! You can always make-up little girls!

Decorate the house all up with balloons and streamers and when she wakes up it'll be a huge suprise seeing everything.

Take her out to lunch, maybe out to the mall to get a new outfit, order pizza or make her favorite food for dinner, have cake and ice cream, open presents, and then rent a movie and have a pajama party the rest of the night. I think she'd have a blast :-)

my daughter will turn 7 next may and I will plan to take her shopping for her gift of her liking and then culminate with dinner at a great restaurant (TGIFridays for example). I'm looking forward to it and so is she. If you can, and had not set out any money on the hotel reservation...you can take her out to dinner w/the whole family. announce to the restaurant host that it's her birthday and they will give her a surprise.
