I think religious people (unless the jokes are actually insulting them i.e. making fun of the core beliefs of their religion) should accept that religion will be joked about, as is almost every aspect of human life - there are a lot of ridiculous elements in our lives, including our religions!

I like to hear a good religious joke. I tell 'em, too.

I think that there are offensive religious jokes that go too far...those that mock Jesus or the Blessed Virgin are offensive to many.

God created everything, including humor - humor can be misused and cruel....so that is no defense for mocking another's religion....

Just my 2-cents worth...

If I told a racist joke should the people I make funny be offensive or just suck it up? Yes God created humor, but I am pretty sure He didn't do it for the purpose of being at his own expense.

I don't. I take offense when the joke is aimed at hurting my religion, but some of my favorite jokes are religious in nature. It depends on the context.

So when you want to tell a joke, know your crowd (the people you are with.

When Christians are mocked, we pray for those who persecute us. When Muslims are mocked (or a cartoon is drawn of Mohammed), they declare Jihad and seek to kill those who offended them (even the cartoonist).

If you don't have Truth on your side, all that is left is the sword.
