It all started when our morals went down the tubes - Thanks to Roe v Wade; We have been made into a culture of death; ie: Abortion; Euthanasia. When you are led down a path that tells you it is OK to kill the unborn, the innocent, well then pre marital sex is on the same path.

If you want to find what is the cause of the higher divorce rate, watch about six hours of reality TV. Marriage is taken so lightly nowadays by people of all faiths.
To say that pre marital sex is a factor must look at the demographic of divorces. There's a much higher percentage of Christians divorcing than Atheist, who generally don't believe in abstinence.

Actually, if you look at statistics in this area, you are going to come to false conclusions. A person who has deep religious beliefs is more likely to abstain from sex and participate in premarital sex. Additionally, this person is more likely not to have a divorce because they believe divorce is wrong and regardless of marital problems, they will stay married. So, to sum this up, it might be true that other countries that have deeper religious views (or at least actually adhere to the religious principles) have longer lasting marriages and less divorce rates, it can be argued that this is because Americans are less willing to stay committed to a marriage that is unlikely to make one (or both) spouses happy.

The divorce rate is highest among born agian christians, especially those that practice abstinance, get your facts straight before you start mouthing off at how wonderful your crappy religion is.
Oh and premarital means you are going to get married, not everyone that has sex does:)
"...the divorce rate is 56% and many people in this country have sex outside of marriage." many people, and most of that percentage are christian. Christians claim this is a christian nation, why not take responsiblity for your own actions and admit that the bad ones are christian?

I think it definitely is a cause because when you think about it all sorts of problems are caused by it. After having sex before marriage people become too attached, sometimes one partner more than the other which causes feelings to get hurt. Also when people have sex before marriage the man usually either consciously or unconsciously doesn't respect the woman for sleeping with him before marriage. People compare there new lovers to old ones and the new ones don't measure up sometimes. I think pre-marital sex is a sin for our benefit so we won't go through all these problems.

No, exactly the opposite here in the U.S. I think the divorce rates are lower in other countries because of social stigma against divorce: nothing to do with premarital sex. BTW: Did you know that Middle Eastern men (living in the M.E.) are VERY commonly recreationally-gay? Also, ever hear of the D.L. here in the U.S.? It's primarily comprised of church-going, married men.
When people save themselves for marriage, they have a less satisfactory sex life. Now comes the "How do you know?" I know based on experience that most people don't have; that's all I'm telling. Look around you, too. See what husbands are running off and cheating and/or leaving because their wives are prudes. I don't think living together outside of marriage is wise for a woman who hopes to get married, but I think you need to have sexual experience before marriage.

That is probably because in the countries where pre-marital sex is very frowned upon, divorce is also very frowned upon - people are likely to be ostracised by their families or disliked if they get a divorce, so will stay in unhappy relationships more.
I don't think we should force anyone to stay with their partner, if someone wants a divorce, chances are they have good reasons!

I would have thought that premarital sex would make the divorce rate go down. Because then you have the opportunity to see how compatible you are with each other in before you marry. If you wait till you're married, and then find out you aren't as compatible as you thought, then you have one of two choices: stay and be miserable while your significant other goes elsewhere to get their needs met or get a divorce. There's no way to tell if you are compatible otherwise.

That is because of the different culture, subservience, not because of pre-marital sex. The divorce rate in this country has to do largely with post-marital sex with some other person, you know, cheating. I would say that is number one of reasons for divorce. Throw in domestic violence, we do not have to tolerate those things in this country, and other cultures they do. I feel sorry for them.

That could be a contributing factor. You have to remember though that while 56% of marriages end in divorce, the actual number of people that get divorced is much lower due to multiple marriages. Certainly those who never had sex are less likely to stray than those who have slept around.

What is pre-marital sex,so if am 65 years old and unmarried but i have sex frequently,is that premarital?Any way,i dont think thats the cause of the high divorce rate. Its because of disrespect, lack of trust and love, and selfish reasons. And also,it is also the culture of the western world. In my part of Africa, were men pay bride prices on women and so on,and were polygamy is allowed, women respect their husbands more.
