I am going through a difficult time in my life, which is not a new development, but over the past week, I have felt very out of touch and distant from my diety. Has anyone else ever felt like this? How would you go about feeling more connected? I have tried my usual meditations, but they haven't helped.

I have a 1 to 1.5 hour commute to and from work every day. I use at least half of that time to sing praises to my deities. People in other cars probably think that I am just singing along with the radio--and that's okay. It is my way of letting my deities know every day how much they mean to me. I don't seek insight, the whole purpose is to do it for them without expecting anything in return. Still, I receive a sense of peace and a connection with them.

Besides prayer and meditation, other things that I do involve giving offerings and reading mythology. I learn about the history of the people who once worshiped them to help me understand them better. I have written letters to them and burnt them so that the smoke would carry my words to them. I have crafted gifts for them. For many years I have always used the same incense and oil, so that just the smell of it acts like a trigger and a connection to all past rituals.
Hope I've given you some ideas......

I'm an atheist, but I have my own little set of 'rituals' I do when I need to 'go inward' and 'go overthere'. One involves leather & pain ('nough said), the other involves firedance, where I build a huge fire and leap through it until I'm exhausted and overheated. Either way, the result's the same, I pass out and enter an altered mindstate and I find myself in the presence of Fenrir Wolf of Nordic Religion. I don't literally believe in him as existing or being a god, but the symbol is significant to me so I take what meaning I can from it.

We have all felt this way. I normally cast a purification/protection spell. Try listening to upbeat music, singing even dancing while you meditate. A cleansing ritual or purification bath never hurts either. I will be sending positive energies to you to aid you.

Meditation... I listen for that still small voice...

Also, study of science and nature works also, for the Deity can be found within It's creation...

I do ritualistic stuff - use symbols and numbers, foods etc that mean things to you. Or philosophise about what your god/s mean to you, what you want to do to be in touch with them - sometimes I find thinking about what I actually believe gets me in touch with my spirituality!

Or - get stoned! (Don't worry, only joking... Only get stoned if that WORKS for you!)
