If you read 2 Thessalonians 2 Paul states that from even his time the man of sin was operating referring to the Antichrist and that there are many Antichrist but they have a head with the name 666. A crash course but visit the link for more, the Antichrist is the Roman Catholic church. It evolved out of Rome and it persecuted the saints in the dark ages and it will persecute them again just before Christ returns.

According to the Bible, the Antichrist has already been around for centuries.
There are three general interpretations of prophecy in the book of Revelation: one is Preterist (the belief that everything happened in the past, and that the antichrist was Herod) one is Futurist (which is what the "Left Behind" series is based on and believes the antichrist hasn't appeared yet) and another is Historicist. I am of the latter. The first two were concocted by two Jesuit priests during the Counter-reformation of the Catholic Church, to take the heat off the Vatican. The Historicist view, which has been held by Bible-believing Christians for centuries, holds that the Catholic Church (specifically the Vatican and the office of the Pope) is the Antichrist. The "Dragon" or "1st Beast" of Revelation (also antichrist) is described specifically as:
1) A persecuting power. (People who followed the Bible instead of the Pope were tortured, executed, or forced to flee into the mountains).
2) In a city that sits on 7 hills.
3) Is led by a man who claims to be God.
4) Rules for 1260 years.
5) Seeks to change times and laws.
6) Is a religious/political power.
7) Wears colors of scarlet and purple.
8) Receives a deadly wound, which will be healed. (The Pope was taken prisoner by Napoleon, and the Catholic Church was without a Pope for 100 years. Today, its "deadly wound" has been healed, as it is even more powerful than the U.S. in its worldwide influence.)
9) All the world will wonder after the beast. (Did you see how many world leaders attended the last Pope's funeral?)

There are at least 5 other points that describe this "beast", but I can't remember them off the top of my head right now. In any case, they decidedly point to the Vatican as the Antichrist.

if you want anti christ by name

1 John 2:22
Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist—he denies the Father and the Son.

2 John 1:7
Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.

those are the only 2 in the niv that ive seen that state the word antichrist. (this is according to the word search on biblegateway.com)

I think most Christians and Non-Christians who wonder about this question confuse what the author John is stating.
First of all the "Anti-Christ" is not a character from the book of Revelations as many mistakenly believe. The term is used only a couple of times in the letters of John and not at all in Revelations. This is something to notice as compared to the whole of his writings. This indicates that the term is not as terribly important as to what he is saying of God and His love for man.
Secondly, the term Anti-Christ is not referring to the Devil or one specific character only. Any who denies or preaches against Christ would be considered an Anti-Christ.
There is more to the term than what I have written, but time is short and I must be going. I hope this at least helps you to understand that such things from Scripture must not be taken lightly, that we must not interpret an ancient culture according to our modern ideas, and especially not expect to understand these things without careful study.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden
