i want to install xp on another computer. Do they trace your ip if you do it via internet do you cant register 2 via internet?

If you do the right thing and buy the software like you are suppose to, you wont need to know. Besides, with Vista coming very soon XP is going to get even cheaper.

They dont, if u have legall XP it only gives one registration no. per pc
But Microsoft does allow u to buy a key over the internet just check their site

Each computer broadcasts its own ip, and the original registration is tied to the computer it is originally on. You can call them, I think, and tell them the other computer is not working anymore, or xp is not loaded on it any more, and they'll let you use it. At least, other software works that way. You usually end up having to buy a copy for each computer though.

one you install your XP, you are demanded to connect to Microsoft and once connected, Microsoft will register your PC configurations

From this config, Ms will know that you have use your XP in different PC

Of Course they track you. Do you have multiple licenses on your XP version? The license you have is for one computer.

Can they, yes...will they, who knows. You would be taking a huge risk doing that. If you have XP Home, you will not be able to activate it.
