I want to be something with law enforcement without college, i know people that have done it, and get paid pretty good. I have tried taking the test for the border patrol but failed the written test. I still have to wait six more months to retest. what should i do, and where should i start at. I know i need to go to a police academy first, but how, who do I talk to, and how do i apply. Help. Its not that im not that smart, because the cops i see in my neighborhood arent that smart either, i know cause ive talked to them after work. so i ask myself how did the pass that test, is there a way of cheating it or what?

The police academy is usually the way to start. You can ask your local college. They are usually the ones that put the academy on. The cops in your neighborhood are probabaly book smart. There is alot to know about being a cop and not one preson can know everything there is to know. No way of cheating on exams but instructors are very helpful when needed. I also think you can take the exam more than once, and you dont have to wait six months like BP.

Well first of all i have to say Good Luck its competitive. The better you do on the test the better your chances. But sometimes it seems like its who you know and not what you know. Do you have any connections? My hubby was promised a job as police officer once they knew he was headed to Iraq. They love it when you are in the military. It gives you that extra bonus. If you went to the Army and got Vets status you could be guaranteed to move up the list. Vets get preference. But if you knew someone politically or a fireman or chief of police that works too. Which is unfair for those out there who don't.

Have you ever thought about going in the Army and being an MP (Military Police)? It's free training. When you got out you would have training, experience and Veteran's Preference for a job with the Border Patrol.

Now it is better to go to college first a least here in CA. But check out the local police, sheriff, & highway patrol academys in your area. Get information on all of the requirments. Maybe you can do some home study. Good luck! You are a brave & noble man to want one of the hardest jobs in the world. God Bless you on your jouney.

They passed the test because they got an education first. Try college and a degree in Criminal Justice (not a hard degree to get, but you will learn about that world).

You disqualified your self by thinking you can cheat, law enforcement is based on honesty and integrity cheaters are not invited. I am a Dep. Sheriff (retired) i suggest maybe trash collection or somthing else

Maybe you could go to your local police station and talk to someone there. I'm sure they could help you out.
