When I go to save my images in Photoshop I go to File, Save As and then click on the drop down menu of formats and select JPEG. Recently however there has been far less choice and JPEG is not there. Can you tell me if I'm doing something wrong?

Check if your mode is set to 16 bits/channel or a 32 bits/channel. It limits you to what you can save it as. If you change it to 8 bits/channel you will be able to save images as jpg's again.
That is, if that is what its it is.
Go to Image / Mode / and in that drop down see what is ticked.
Or maybe try messing around with your settings

Some image formats will not convert to jpg, sorry I can't give a example, but a way around the problem is to SAVE AS a bmp for example and then re save the bmp as a jpg.

Have your image open
then
Image > Mode
Make sure RGB is chosen.
Then File > SAve As> and choose jpg from the file type box.

umm been ages since i used photoshop, if you go you file, is there an "export" option - i know in Fireworks, you have to export as a jpg or it saves native tiff or png

Check the color mode, and check the size: sometimes larger-bit color won't save as jpg, and same w/grayscale.

Make sure you are in RGB mode, not CMYK.
