Is there any way for me to determine my ethnicity through like a quiz, asking me head shape, eye shape, nose shape, what my skin color is, etc?

My mother was adopted and died before I could ask her, and I have no clue who my father is. Her adoptive mother is dead, too.

I can tell you that based on your name: you're Icelandic.

There is no website that I can think of to determine your ethnicity. I think one way would be to go to a doctor and get an analysis and a blood test. He should be able to tell by your physical traits what your most dominant race is. I am pretty sure people can look at you and tell that you are either black or white or mixed for that matter. I would imagine the best thing for you to do is go to the adoption agency and question them or people that may have known about your family. It may be difficult to pinpoint your exact ethnicity if most of your close relatives are dead. Main point is atleast you are a person and race is just half of you, not that important....with the exception of when you have to fill out a job application that is....

If a medical analysis is out of the question, as I assume this is just general curiosity and nothing pressing. There is a computer program (The Human Race Machine) that takes a picture of you and shows what you would look like as different races. You could examinal all results and decide which closely match you or take the results and morph various combinations into one image to try and match your own looks. Also, you can take a look at the "Golden face" maps (based off of Phi and mathematical equations - a little creepy, I'm not going to lie), which has variations by geographic regions (ie. Northern European, Asian, African, etc.) Matching up your basic facial structure to one of those would help narrow it down, but it is certainly nothing definitive. Plus, it's most likely to just illustrate all the little "flaws" in your features you never noticed before.

The only way information can be obtained for something like that is if your looking for gentic strains that can cause disease and fractions. You need to go to the adoption agency and ask for a medical report on your mother on her dna.

Don't worry about what ethicity you are. As long as you have a good heart and soul. That is more important, but I undertand why you want to know you family history.

I don't know if this is what your looking for but you can have a dna test and might be able to tell you some traits.

Well there migth be a way...if you get blood testing done to prove it.

Like for example there are certain drugs that only effect African Americans and not caucasians....and there are certain drugs that only effect white people and not African Americans...There are distinctive qualitites about every race and their health.

Akanazi jews are more prone to Tay Sach's if you look at their genomic structure...Where as certain desendents of northern european desent have certain gentic mutations that can be found in them even if they are completly normal...

So if you get a DNA analysis, and you doctor is smart enough then he might be able to narrow down the choices of what your true ethnicity could be.

Thats ridiculous. If you are mixed then any possible traits you have are watered down. Just let the adoption agency know your situation and Im sure they will be more happy to help you. They may not be able to tell you who your parents parents were, but maybe at least their ethnicity.

Hi, National Geographic is doing a study on the human dna, they call it the human genome project and the public is welcome to participate at a cost of 99.95. I was watching a show where a man who identified himself as african american had 8 others participate and himself, Oprah, Chris Tucker etc. He turned out to be only like 3% african and mostly european. here is the link if you are interested, once you reach the site hit the "how to participate" button at the top of the page.

Wow. Well, I know there's a DNA kit to test whether you have african ancestry.

See http://africanancestry.com/. I think it can test for other ethnicities too.
