Personally, a fan of both but, Society fucked up somewhere. Why is it socially acceptable to get drunk off your face and then go and puke/****/piss/shag in someones back garden/shed/doorway/car and then have more drinks that blind you and then wake up the next day saying it was great. Why is it not socially acceptable to invite a few friends round, spliff up and try a range of wonderfully coloured smoking paraphernalia and then listen to the same song for the rest of the night on your computer because you like to windows media player visualisations?

Don`t ever believe someone if they tell you that they have only tried weed once and didn`t inhale! What rubbish! Fighting/hooligans/yobs all do what they do after they have had alcohol, which is cheap and easy to buy. It is the fuel of the trouble-makers.Weed has exactly the opposite effect to alcohol. You will rarely have heard of smokers who end up in a fight. One of the reasons that so much weed finds its` way into our prisons, is because its` calming effect on the inmates makes the running of the prison so much easier. Un fortunately though, it still remains an illegal substance in the U.K.I really had thought that by now some of the `old hippies` in the government would have sorted this out, and then everyone would be so much happier.

I think the proof was in the recent study that reported alcohol to be one the most dangerous drugs (http://www.newscientist.com/channel/health/mg19125633.100-drugdanger-league-table-revealed.html). Can you imagine if alcohol was discovered tomorrow? It would be chucked right in at Class A! I think the problem that the Government have, is that they simply cannot make alcohol illegal - it brings in too much money and too many jobs are resting on it. At the same time they don't want to start making other drugs legal, because this would be seen as irresponsible by the millions of voters who have been misinformed on the dangers of drugs. Recently I read a post on here which said cannabis shouldn't be made legal because it would make too many people violent - I nearly fell off my chair laughing (maybe I was stoned). I have never seen a stoned person act violently in any way. I have seen plenty of people act incredibly violent under the influence of alcohol.
The good news is that the police are taking a bit more a relaxed view these days on possession. Problem is they are taking a much harder stance on cannabis farms.
The problem really lays in the fact it is illegal, therefore, unlike alcohol, people are forced to mix with drug dealers, who can offer them something harder if no weed is around.

I completely agree with your point of view. However, I don't think its socially acceptable to do the things you mentioned while drinking. Alcohol is just as bad for you as weed. I am sure the world would be way more mellow if they went along with your plan of action, but don't hold your breath because it won't ever happen. Sorry.

I'd much rather have a load of piss heads wondering arounds, who are actually normal when they aren't drunk, than a load of dope smoking hippies who sit on the dole and eat the grass from my back garden all day.

nicely, have you ever stopped to ask your self why that's so a lot extra sturdy to discover "booze" and really user-friendly to discover weed? i imagine the biggest difficulty is those who have self assurance that those are the biggest issues.

A lot of it goes back to US newspaper magnate Wlliam Randolph Hearst (the inspiration for Citizen Kane). He saw the threat which hemp production posed for his wood-pulp investments, so used his newspapers to demonise the effect of weed, and his political influence to push for the banning of hemp, and for international treaties to suppress its growth and use. Bastard!

Because most politicians.... have "only tried weed once and didn't inhale" at uni.... but were superglued to the uni-bar for the whole of their degrees and to the members bar for their whole time in Parliament

You need to hear The streets. I agree but they made weed illegal when there is not one recorded death from weed but alcohol kills 1,000's a year.
