I agree with sturno and bigd. The Remington 870 is one of the most versatile shotguns in the world. it does everything the fancy European shotguns can do, and it costs a lot less. I use my 12 guage Remington expressmag for everything from hunting turkeys to geese, ducks, quail, chuckars and pheasants. The most important thing for turkey hunting is to select a very tight choke. when its time to hunt turkeys i simply unscrew my modified choke and screw in my turkey choke. Load it up with some 3 inch heavyshot shotgun shells and you have yourself a lethal turkey killing machine! Good luck!
*another thing about turkey hunting: its really important that you learn to call properly. most of the time when you are turkey hunting you will want to call them to you. Box calls are great for beginers, but a mouth diaphram can be really effective once you get the hang of it. Buy yourself an instructional vidio that goes over the diffent calls that turkeys make. practice at home before turkey season starts and you will have a huge advantage.

Any shotgun that you have is a good turkey gun. Just change the ammo you use. You should have shot that is at least number 6 in size, 4 is better. The key to taking a turkey is to keep your shots to within 40 yards and aim only for the head. One pellet is all you need to put the bird down, although more will be good insurance. DO NOT take body shots, the pellets will not penetrate the heavy wing feathers and the bird will be gone. Good luck.

Any will do - long barrel, long barrel, long barrel. I bought a Turkish all purpose gun that I use for upland game (rabbit and pheasant mainly) , turkey, and deer. It's a Khan semi-auto 12 ga with a 28" barrel and adjustable chokes. The best part about thisn gun is it shoots all three size shells - 2 3/4", 3", and 3 1/2". Other than needing the stock shortened, I love it. Good Luck!

I use a Mossburge 835 Ulti Mag. It can shoot everything up to a 3.5 inch shell. I have an aftermarket extra full choke and have a Simons 4x32 scope. This gun is the best turkey gun I have ever used. I tried a Winchester 1300 and a Charles Daly semi-auto which were both fine weapons but neither could compete with the 12 ga. Mossburge!

I use my Remington 870 Mag with 3" Turkey Duplex loads. All I do special is camo the gun where possible and insert an extra full turkey choke tube in place of what you're using for pheasant (modified, improved, etc.), and I put TruGlo sights on the vent rib. Has worked fine for me so far. I do plan on getting a full-time turkey gun down the road with camo finish and special sights/barrel, etc.

Remington makes a very good pump shot gun it is a model 870 and is actually called a "turkey" gun. with chokes this gun is good for just about all hunting. It cost less than 300 dollars in most places here in Texas.

Mossberg 500 with full choke and longer barrel. Or a 870 Express with a long barrel and full choke. Usually they come with a barrel or two then you can just buy a barrel with a full choke and ventilated rib. These are cheap and great quality.
