I recently started dating a guy after being dumped by someone i spent four year with. I love both guys, and my ex recently told me he wanted me back. I told him i didn't want to be with him, because he had broken up with me five times in the four years we'd been together and i didn't want to go through it again. my new boyfriend is a wonderful guy that treats me like gold, but lately i can't stop thinking about my ex and i have never felt about anybody what i feel about him. I'm torn on what to do because i love my ex in completely different way than i have ever loved, but i'm afraid to trust him. My new boyfriend treats me better, but i don't feel the same about him. Who do i choose?

The only reason your x probably wants u back is that he is the type that doesn't really want u but doesn't want u to move on and let someone else have u. That is a dis-functional love. If he has left u that many times he is not truly committed to u or truly in love with u. It sounds like a really nice guy u have met, don't push him away to go back to the same old hurt over and over again. You could be pushing away true happiness. You need to move on and allow yourself to be happy and be loved like u should be. Don't allow your x to keep controlling your emotions. He had his chances and now it's time for u.

You know the answer.

If you are afraid to trust him then he is not the guy to be with. You need trust in a relationship or you will spend the whole time wondering if today is the day he will leave you again. I understand you love him but does he really love you? He left you 5 times? I know I wouldn't do that to someone I love. Give them heartache 5 times.

I would give the other guy a chance. Sounds like you would be better off with anyone besides your ex.

Good luck!!!

Well none of us hear can answer that for you. But I totally understand your situation me and my ex broke up and I still love him but I KNOW I would not ever ever be with him again.

What I do suggest is praying about the situation and sitting down with your ex and talking about you two being together. Sounds like your ex might be the one. But who knows? Sometimes if you love someone enough you just have to let them go. People come people go out of your life. So sit down and talk to your ex and see if he 100% feels the way that do. Let him know he has to earn your trust. Trust is the key to any relationship.

Good luck and God bless!

Even if you don't stay with your new boyfriend, going back to the ex is a mistake. You know how he hurt you, but you keep thinking about what could have been, rather than what it was. You are holding on to a false dream about what you thought it would be with him, rather than the reality of 5 breakups. You don't love your ex-- you are in love with the idea of what you hoped it would be with him... but never was. Let it go.

Cheesy as it is you have to follow your heart. Maybe its a different love because the new boyfriend is well new. Maybe you need to give the new one a chance because by breaking up 5 times in 4 years I think you already gave the old 1 a chance.

your just romanticizing the good times with your ex. thats what everyone does as time goes on we tend to remember the good. He broke up with 5 times in four years - no one deserves that. Your BF is good to you from what you say. He might not be the one but he definitely doesn't deserve to lose you too your jerkoff of an ex.

Your ex has hurt you so much you are thinking about him because it is in our nature to make it work and think we have changed the person hurting us.
Stay with the guy who is treating you right!
