You can take motrin or tylenol but if you have a toothache that means something is wrong and you need to have it checked. I know about not having insurance and it sucks, but it could cause you even more problems down the line. Call your local Family Independace Agency or health dept and ask if they know of any dentist that will go by your income to determine how much you pay or if they know of any that will accept payments. You most likely will have to have an antibiotic and right now Meijer (if you are in a state with Meijer) is offering to fill antibiotics for free for all customers. Good luck.

Have you tried getting the medicaid dental? if that is not an option, try looking in your phone book for local dentist that are willing to set up payment plans for folks with no dental insurance. Most probably will, especially with the rising cost of medical and dental insurance. good luck!

To alleviate the pain and draw the infection out try putting a tea bag on the area. I have done this when I have had an infected tooth. I had to inert a needle into the area after the tea bag drew the infection to the surface,This is a temporary solution and not recommended by dentist, but it is an old cure from many many years ago.

Tell the receptionist that you have no insurance, and ask if they can help you our with the price. I know my dentist is really good about helping out people paying cash for their dental work. All you need to do is ask.. the worst they can say is no... and guess what, the answer IS "no" if you DONT ask at all!

Boy can I sympathsize!

The dentists I've worked with have been willing to work out a payment plan with me. Lay your cards on the table and hope you've got good people. Meanwhile, take tylenol to control the pain.

Good luck!

Usually colleges have dental schools in them for dirt cheap because students do the work. You may want to call around to the schools in your area and find out if they do that.
