I use a ceramic hair straightner as recommended by my hairstylist. She also suggested I try a round brush that heats up when u use a hairdryer. I use Garnier Fructis (sp?) hair straightening milk to help keep frizz down. I am sure you could use something similiar. Have had curly hair since I was a teenager and it is a pain to get straight!

I have extremely thick and long hair. I have used this iron for 3 yrs now and it never fails me. It is the CHI ceramic iron which moisturizes your hair while you straighten instead of drying it out and making it crispy. My hair is about 2 ft long and it only takes me 12 minutes to do all of my hair and not only does it straighten it does really cool spiral curls. CHI also makes a curling iron, ceramic. The flat iron runs about $110 you can go to www.CHI.com to look at them. hope you like it just as much as I do.

Ceramic are better for straightening with less damage and sealing in mouisture, as much as it can be when your essentially burning your hair. I want to warn you, I used to have long thick hair too and I straightened my hair for 3 years and now my hair won't grow past my shoulders and my hair is incredibly thin. I don't recommend daily usage if you want to keep your hair healthy. A good straightener is CHI because it's really smooth but it's pretty expensive so if you don't want to spend too much go to your grocery store or local beauty shop and pick up one for $20-$50.
