Co-worker has become a citizen. He has three children. The oldest was not born in the U.S. She is eight. How can he go about having her made a U.S. citizen. His two younger children were born here and are citizens. His wife is not 'cuz she is afraid to fail the test and loose $400 bucks.

I'm not sure if his daughter has a green card. His brother failed the test, because he could not read and right English. He speaks fairly well though, but still he failed. I think that is why the wife is nervous. She has seen her brother in law fail, several times I might add.

I think she has to be a resident first but if she is a minor he can petition for her to become that.

You want to check the immigration web page. I heard something about minor children automatically becoming 'derivative' citizens, but I don't know much about it.

Does the child live already in the us?if you does she would have to have a greencard.you just gotta go to the ins and file her paperwork to be a us citizen.
If she does not have anything yet she needs to file ist her work permit (for alien nr)then for her greencard then for her citizenship.
The test for the citizenship yes you have to know a little, but i saw people getting their citizenship that barly spoke english....
