Peppermint in any form is excellent to take whenever you have an upset stomach. I doubt it will help with all your symptoms of IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) but it does help when you have a upset stomach or sour stomach. We've used that for decades in our house and my grandmother used it thru out her whole life.
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

It may or may not help, but there are other things that are a lot more effective for IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). See your doctor. IBS can cause a number of unpleasant symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, gas, bloating, indigestion and nausea. Some natural remedies can be soothing, but if it were me, I'd get something from the doctor that can control all these symptoms and make life a lot more enjoyable for you.

My wife has IBS and she is a trained swedish massure. DO NOT ingest any essential oil ever! You can use it in massage though. When she gets an attack of IBS she eats loads of softmints and drinks peppermint tea, it blokes the enzym that tells your stomach that it is over full when it isnt!

Peppermint tea...oil is known to settle stomachs...as in indigestion...it's a natural extract and I used to suffer and drank peppermint tea...it did ease the frequency. Mine was mainly stress related...too many fizzy drinks and bread. Change of diet and lifestyle has totally cured it. One attack this year only from drinking Orangina!!

It can help, as can having a mint imperial after food. The best way to treat it is to make sure you have lots of roughage and get some treatment of the Dr.
