My friend's one-year-old pushed in the center of my husband's Kicker brand woofer and although they arent' brand new I'd love to fix it...

Leave it alone...the dust cover on a sub-woofer is basically cosmetic and for keeping dust out of the voice-coil. As long as there are no rips or tears in it, it will work fine if left alone. I recommend leaving it alone, or you could end up worse off than you already are.

I re-iterate...if it's a woofer, performance will not change appreciabley. If it's a sub-woofer, performance won't change at all.

you have a few options but you must be very careful. One, you can attempt to pick it out with a needle, sort of like trying to get out a splinter, two if you have a vacuum cleaner with adjustable suction you can try to suck it back out. and last but not least the most dangerous try using tape to stick to it and pull it out. but if none of those work the speaker is fine, the center of a sub is only for looks it will play fine with or without it.

If it's just the grille, you can take that off and try to flatten it or replace it. If it is the speaker cone itself, it is unlikely you will ever get it back to original perfomance level, even if you can loosen it. There is very lillte space between the speaker voice coil and the magnet, and alignment is critical.
