I have many Latino friends and acquaintances at work. Some are decent and respectful, but the majority of them seem to think it is their god given right to seduce as many women as possible before they die. This is an observation on my part from conversations I have heard. I hear the same thing from some African and caucasians but not nearly on so large a scale.

Complimenting is acceptable. It is a European hold-over from what I can tell. (I've gotten it from French guys too.) You're supposed to just ignore it and they're not supposed to pursue it. It's just being nice. It's not actually coming on to someone like it would be in American culture. If an American said the same thing, it would probably be flirting. In Latin culture, it's a compliment.

Latino has nothing to do with it.They are just blaming their forwardness on their ancestors. When a man openly flirts, he is trying to be noticed. If he's married then he's trying to make his wife think she has someone that can go find another one to replace her.It is rude and not only Latinos do it.

Is it any more less acceptable in any other culture? How else might a man let a woman know that he is interested? Western cultured women (generally) are too fickle. They want to be an "Equal" but yet, they want to be treated like a "Lady." To hold the door open or not, that is the question. Out on a date, let her pay for her own meal? Equal? Or just rude? I dunno.

I have no idea, but Latino men are the boldest I have ever seen and it doesn't even matter if you don't speak their language.

Not everybody accepts this. Probably cause they want their way to stay longer in the country.
